The VDO Dayton Mobile Navigation software is provided on a storage medium such as a MultiMediaCard. The navigation can be started without any further installation by inserting the memory card into the mobile phone. When using the service for the first time, a one time activation licence key has to be entered.
After entering the desired destination, the route request and the current position as identified by a GPS-receiver is sent to a Siemens VDO central server. The most suitable route to the destination is calculated and transmitted back to the mobile phone. After confirming the route planning, the navigation starts.
· Online Navigation Service: the latest maps are stored on a central server operated by Siemens VDO and the requested route is automatically downloaded to your mobile phone, sparing the expense of buying typical country maps.
· Easy Address Entry: destinations can be chosen directly from the contact list in your mobile phone, a personal list of favourites and last destinations or from a multitude of points of interest (e.g. hotels, restaurants, filling stations, or even parking lots).
· Dynamic Navigation: the route is calculated and optimised considering the latest traffic information available.
· Guidance: the combination of voice, map and icon guidance ensures relaxed and reliable navigation to any selected destination.
· Compatible to many Mobile Phones*: VDO Dayton Mobile Navigation runs on a multitude of common mobile phones.
· Intuitive Handling: the menus and functions are designed for ease of use.
· Compatible to all Mobile Networks*: the VDO Dayton Mobile Navigation service can be accessed through all GSM or UMTS mobile networks regardless of one's contract type.
