Step
3: Stock Item Heading
The product page content is created and edited from
Catalog - Set Up Catalog, for each product.
This screen allows you to design the layout of the product page and the stock items that appear beneath it in tabular
format. The customer will see the product page when he clicks on a hyperlink from a summary product display (for example search results or the shopping cart)
and also if product display option 1 is chosen in
Product Layout - Display Options
- Step 1 - You can place a small header at the top of the page (tick the "Page Heading" tick box if you
want to use it. Inside the text box you can insert the name of the category and/or subcategory that the
product belongs to by inserting the {CATEGORY} and {SUBCATEGORY} tags.
- Step 2 - Beneath the page header you can choose to display the product name as a sub-heading and set its
font etc.
- Step 3 - The product page will then be displayed beneath the Page Header and the product name. You define the content
and look and feel of the product page in Catalog - Set Up Catalog for each product. Beneath the product page
will sit a table of all the stock items/part numbers associated with the product. These are also defined in
Catalog - Set Up Catalog. However in Steps 3 to 4 you can set the look and feel of this stock table. In
particular, in Step 3 you can choose whether or not to display stock headings (such as "Part No", "Description"..)
above the table and set how they look.
- Step 4 - Set the look and feel of the stock table (eg fonts, table border, colours). There are additional fields
worth mentioning:
"Display as a drop down box" - if selected then the table will not display but in its
place will be a drop down box listing the stock items.
"Display Bulk Levels in Heading" - If ticked, the bulk discount levels will display in the Stock Item heading, otherwise they will display
for each individual stock item. So do not tick this option if there are different bulk levels for different stock items
within the same product (as the bulk level heading is taken from the first stock item in the list).
"Level of bulk prices to be shown" - Each stock item
can have up to 10 levels of bulk pricing set (in the advanced product tab in Catalog - Set Up Catalog). Choose how
many levels you want to actually display.
"Only display first stock item" - Only relevant where there
are products with multiple stock items/part numbers. If there is more than one
stock item belonging to the product then ordinarily all the stock items will be displayed in the stock table beneath the
product page. However you can choose to display only the first stock item. This feature is particularly relevant where
the product page has been customized to include stock information using the {} tags. In this case the first stock item is
taken and integrated with the product page. In these cases you may not want additional stock items to display in a
stock table beneath the product page.
